About
Tomson Thomas is an Assistant Professor in the PG and Research Department of English at Fatima Mata National College (Autonomous), Kollam, where he has served since January 2021. He previously worked as Guest Lecturer in the same department from 2015 to 2020. He holds an MA in English Language and Literature and qualified UGC-NET in English in 2014. He currently serves as Assistant Controller of Examinations, Nodal Officer for Digilocker, and Placement Cell Convener at FMNC. He is also a Board of Studies Member for English and NAAC Liaison Officer for the Department, alongside serving as Academic Counsellor at IGNOU and Sreenarayanaguru Open University study centres. He has contributed significantly to curriculum development, including the formulation of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) and membership on the university-level FYUGP syllabus committee. Committed to continuous professional growth, Tomson has completed several UGC-recognised Faculty Development Programmes and refresher courses, including an Induction Programme (A+ grade) and a Refresher Course on Environment and Human Health, both from Ramanujan College, University of Delhi. His research interests include Gender studies, Popular Literature, Media Studies, Journalism, Shakespearean Studies, Literary Theory and Criticism, Postcolonial Literature, Posthumanism, Science Fiction, AI and Literary Studies, Film Studies, Curation Studies, Cultural Studies, Art and Aesthetics, Space Literature, Mythological Studies and Indian Literature. He has presented papers at numerous national and international seminars, such as those at Pondicherry University, Annamalai University, and Sri Meenakshi Government Arts College, Madurai. His publications include a co-authored article in Literary Endeavour, a chapter in Panorama on Indian Writing in English, and a paper in the International Journal of Research Instinct. He combines academic teaching with institutional leadership and a strong research focus in literature and cultural studies.
